JCCI/CITY OF JOBURG EXPORTER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME – PHASE 2 FOR 2023/2024 (Group 1 and 2)

PURPOSE:

JOHANNESBURG TRADE COUNCIL (JTC) TO DEVELOP AND CAPACITATE EMERGING EXPORTERS

City of Johannesburg’s Trade and Investment unit and the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), an instrumental partner in the establishment of the Export Development and Capacitation programme.  The SMMEs had taken time and effort to understand the export processes, further growing their businesses.

In a low-growth economy, COJ Trade and Investment and JCCI identified a need to establish a Trade Council to develop a streamlined approach towards export development and export promotion activities to enhance the City’s export and global competitiveness, contributing towards the City’s long-term economic growth.

The primary objective of the Trade Council was to establish and create an enabling environment for exports and reduce any barriers to economic growth by providing support to SMMEs looking at increasing their exports. The Trade Council does not operate solely in achieving this outcome; however, it works closely in collaboration with relevant industry associations, financial services institutions, and chambers to ensure synergy in activities that capacitate COJ based businesses especially SMMEs.

So far close to 150 SMEs have participated in this programme. It is now time to showcase, connect and celebrate. To this purpose, COJ Trade and Investment and JCCI are hosting a Graduation Ceremony for this SMMEs on the 26th of July 2024 at the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) offices at 7th Floor, JCCI House, 27 Owl Street (Cor Empire Road), Milpark
