The SADC region is a key destination for South African exporters and investors, accounting for 90% of exports to Africa, largely value-added, reaching almost R500bn in 2023. With a population in excess of 400 million people, it is a substantial consumer market, with many consumers both familiar with South African products and comfortable with the quality of these products. In addition, project activity, in energy, infrastructure, mining and other key industries is driving renewed development in the region, as several countries emerge as key to the global transition to clean energy. This combination of proximity, consumers, key industry growth and ease of access places SADC as a key region for any South African-based company wishing to enter the broader African market.
The Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with Africa House will host a Southern Africa Business Breakfast Session, to discuss about the importance of the SADC region for South African exporters and investors.
