About the EYWA Project
The EYWA project is dedicated to empowering national and local civil society organizations in South Africa—particularly those led by women and youth—to promote gender equality and improve youth inclusion in the labor market.
Focusing on disadvantaged communities in Johannesburg’s Gauteng province, the project seeks to enhance the employability and economic opportunities of young people and women through several key initiatives:
- Supporting entrepreneurship driven by women and youth.
- Building the capacity of women and youth networks to actively participate in policy dialogue.
- Strengthening public-private partnerships (PPPs) that address socio-economic inclusion.
- Combating gender-based violence through targeted community actions.
The programme is being rolled out in phases. In Phase 1, 52 have successfully graduated. We are currently equipping an additional 79 participants to ensure that 120 beneficiaries are equipped and graduated by the conclusion of the overall programme.
EYWA is a European project carried out by four partners: CCI Spain as Lead Applicant, in collaboration with three co-implementing partners in South Africa (Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI), Lulalab Foundation and Youth Employment Service NPC (YES) who have been selected based on their expertise and experience in developing activities to support underprivileged women and youth in the Gauteng province, where the project will take place.
